Services
Vaccinations
Pet vaccinations play an essential role in keeping your pet healthy. Vaccinating your pet can also prevent the spread of certain deadly diseases, such a rabies, to your family.
Vaccinations are done by a qualified veterinarian. The appointment includes a complete health examination to detect early signs of underlying issues or disease.
Professional Surgeries & Emergency care
Operations are performed using the safest anaesthetic agents as well as closed circuit inhalation anaesthesia. All anaesthetics are administered and monitored by professional staff and pets are continuously observed using pulse oximetry monitors.
The surgeries we do range from routine elective procedures such as spays and neutering to advanced orthopaedic, dental and emergency surgery.
Dentals are done under general anaesthesia by a veterinarian and qualified nurse.
On discharge from hospital a veterinarian or veterinary nurse will discuss progress and medication requirements with you.
Accidents and illness do not keep a schedule. Therefore we have an emergency number where a vet can be reached at all hours - 7 days per week, 365 days per year
Weight clinic
We offer free weight assessment and follow up weigh-in visits because we understand the importance of a healthy weight for our pets. Pet owners rarely realise the big impact that excess weight has on a pets’ overall health. We are seeing an increase in pets that are overweight but even more so pets that are obese.
Clinical obesity results in more serious health conditions that every pet owner needs to be aware of, such as:
• Damage to joints, bones and ligaments
• Diabetes mellitus
• Heart disease and increased blood pressure
• Difficulty breathing
• Kidney disease
• Decreased stamina
• Decreased liver function
• Increased surgical and anaesthetic risk
Obese pets also have reduced quality of life and shorter life expectancy.
Advanced Dentistry
Croft Animal Hospital offers the following specialist dentistry:
Difficult extractions
Full mouth extractions in cat to treat viral mouth infections
Tumour removals from the mouth and head
Jaw fracture repair
Surgical conditions of the salivary glands , head and neck
Microchipping
Microchipping is an easy yet permanent way to identify your pet, prove ownership and help bring a lost pet home. A microchip is a tiny electronic device implanted beneath the pet’s skin between the shoulder blades with a special syringe.
The procedure is as easy and painless as a vaccination. The microchips unique number, as well as the owner and pet’s details are logged on a national pet registry.
Most veterinary hospitals and animal shelters have electronic scanners for detecting and reading these implanted microchips. If a lost pet is found and a microchip is scanned it is easy to trace the owner via the database.
